Deputy Premier Assesses Level of Preparedness to Respond to COVID-19

Addis Ababa,March 7/2020 (ENA) Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mokennen visited the Public Health Emergency Operation Center today in order to assess the level of preparedness of the center to respond to Coronavirus (COVID-19). 

Teams at the center briefed the deputy prime minister about the prevention measures that have been undertaken, according to Ethiopian Public Health Institute.

During his visit to the center under the Ethiopian Public Health Institute, Demeke encouraged members of the Federal Police and Defense Ministry hospitals who were attending the training on the prevention and preparedness of COVID-19.

The Government of Ethiopia formed a national ministerial committee aimed at monitoring the ongoing efforts to contain the threats of COVID-19 in the country last week.  

So far no case of coronavirus has been detected in the country.
