Long-serving Officials Retired

Addis Ababa June 07/2018 The government of Ethiopia today announced that it has retired two officials who served for log period of time in different positions. Abadula Gemeda and Ambassador Girma Birru are the officials whom the government has retired effective from today. Prior to his retirement, Abadula Gemeda has long served as speaker of the House of Peoples Representatives. He also served as president of Oromia regional state. The other retiree, Ambassador Girma Birru has served as Ethiopian ambassador to the U.S, minister of trade and industry, state minister of finance and economy as well as defense. It was recalled that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has retired five long-serving government officials recently. Sebhat Nega, Kassu Ilala, Tadesse Haile, and Mekonnen Manyazewal, were among the officials who were retired from their positions. The statement released from the Office of the Prime Minister at that time, said that the Prime Minister will continue to retire long-serving and veteran government officials from their position.
