PM Abiy Holds Discussions with Japanese Prime Minister

Addis Ababa ENA August 29/2019 Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Thursday held talks with Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe on the sideline of the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 7).

Premier Abiy briefed Shinzo Abe about the progress of political and economic reforms taking place in Ethiopia, according to Office of the Prime Minister.

He shared the vision of making Ethiopia one of the top 5 leading economies in Africa through the homegrown economic reforms which is now well on track.

Prime Minister Abiy called upon the government of Japan to support Ethiopia’s initiative through business and investments in agriculture, tourism, ICT and mining.

Furthermore, Abiy requested Prime Minister Abe to facilitate employment opportunities for skilled youth in various sectors in Japan.

Prime Minister Abe expressed his firm support for Premier Abiy and the ongoing reforms being undertaken by the government Ethiopia.

He also acknowledged the role of Ethiopia in promoting peace with Eritrea, peace process in South Sudan and Prime Minister Abiy’s role in brokering the peace accord in Sudan which gives lasting solution for the country’s crises.  

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe affirmed his government's continued support for Ethiopia and shared particular assistance for the construction of the Jimma-Chida road construction.
