MoSHE Introduces Five Years Strategic Plan for Higher Education

Addis Ababa ENA August 26/2019 Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MoSHE) announced today that it has prepared a draft five-year strategic plan that it envisions to be implemented in institutions of higher learning.

Speaking on the occasion, Ministry of Science and Higher Education State Minister Samuel Kifle said the ministry has initiated tremendous reforms that enable it to discharge its responsibilities in producing a professional and capable workforce.

The plan, according to him, will help adopt a new and effective training in Ethiopian universities and technical and vocational training education institutes.

Quality education is the epicenter of the strategic plan and it emphasizes a linkage between private sector and universities, the state minister noted.

MoSHE tabled the strategic plan for discussion and additional inputes.

The ministry has established an advisory council comprising local and diaspora professionals  in nine working groups in order to reinforce the reform in the education sector.

Samuel stated that the advisory council, which was established nine months ago, has been working aggressively on governance, quality, institutional development, equity and access and in other areas.

Currently, the country is reforming the educational system through a 15-year roadmap that would be implemented starting this coming academic year.
