UK to Boost its Development Support for Ethiopia: UK Secretary of State for Int’l Dev’t

Addis ababa August 23/2019 Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed met today UK Secretary of State for International Development, Alok Sharma and his delegation this morning before he left for TICAD summit.

The two sides discussed on ways of enhancing cooperation between Ethiopia and UK.

Appreciating the homegrown reforms underway, Alok Sharma affirmed the continued support of the UK Government to Ethiopia.

 Ethiopia gets the lion share of UK International Development assistance compared to Sub-Saharan countries, he added.

It is to be recalled that UK has launched a platform that helps improving the tax collection system of Ethiopia a year ago.

Prime Minister Abiy expressed his gratitude to the Government of UK for the continued engagement in Ethiopia’s endeavors.
