Addis Ababa August 13/2019 China announced that it has awarded 31 additional fully-funded scholarships to Ethiopians who purse their studies in masters and doctoral programs.
Out of the scholarships provided for lecturers in different universities, 21 are PhD programs and the rest post-graduate studies.
In the award ceremony held this morning at the Embassy of China in Addis Ababa, Ambassador Tan Jian of China urged the scholarship recipients to make use of the opportunity and support their country.
The ambassador also called on the students to be a bridge between the people of the two countries to strengthen the existing bondage between the two countries.
Science and Higher Education State Minister, Samuel Kifle on his part underscored that the students should bring knowledge that contributes to the development of the country.
Appreciating the role that China has been playing in the field of capacity building, Samuel requested China to enhance its contribution in the sphere.
At present, there are about 600 Ethiopian nationals pursuing higher studies in masters and PhD programs in China.
