Institute Taking Preventive Measures against Ebola Virus

Addis Ababa July 30/2019 Ethiopian Public Health Institute disclosed that it is working on preventive measures against Ebola virus by establishing screening and quarantine centers.

Briefing journalists today, Public Health Institute Deputy Director-General Dr. Beyene Moges said the screening and quarantine centers are already established in Addis Ababa, Mekele, Diredawa and Bahir Dar International airports.

The institute will in particular check passengers from Democratic Republic of Congo, the country where the virus outbreak has earlier been reported and Ethiopian Airlines flies to.

The screening activity to prevent Ebola virus has also been conducted in 18 checkpoints across the country, Dr. Beyene pointed out.

The Ethiopian Public Health Institute has reportedly deployed more than 290 health professionals for the prevention of Ebola virus.

Meanwhile, the deputy director-general said the cholera epidemic has been put under control , except in two woredas where the victims are getting treatment.

But, he called on the public to continue with their usual care to protect themselves from the disease.
