Blue Nile State Governor Lauds Ethiopia's Role in Resolving Sudanese Political Crisis

Addis Ababa ENA July 24/2019 The Governor of Blue Nile State, Major General Ahmed Abdurahim, has praised the effort that Ethiopia has been exerting to resolve the political challenges that Sudan is facing.

A consultative meeting, which brought together senior officials from the Benishangul-Gumuz regional state and the Blue Nile State of Sudan, is underway in regional capital city Asossa.

During the occasion, Major General Abdurahim thanked Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed for his efforts to resolve the challenges the country has been facing.  

The governor added that though separated by artificial boundaries, Ethiopia and Sudan are tied together in marriage and culture over the years.

Major General Abdurahim also expressed his hope that the relation between the two nations will be further strengthened in the coming years.

Chief Administrator of Benishangul Gumuz regional state, Ashadli Hassen said on his part the relation between Ethiopia and Sudan has been longstanding and the peoples are tied with blood and culture.

The meeting is critical to ensure the benefit of the people of the two particular regional states, apart from strengthening the overall relations, Ashadli noted.

Over 40 members of delegations from the two regional states are attending the ongoing consultative meeting while agreements are also expected to be signed on areas of security and development issues by the end of the meeting.
