Addis Ababa ENA July 14/2019  Addis Ababa is to host the Committee on World Food Security’s (CFS) conference from July 16-17, 2019 which is expected to deliberate on combating malnutrition in Africa, according to the press release issued by CFS.

As malnutrition is the most pressing global challenge particularly in Africa, CFS is undertaking a policy process that leads to the development of Voluntary Guidelines on Food Systems and Nutrition, it stated.

It added that food system transformation is essential for sustainable elimination of all forms of malnutrition.

Accordingly, CFS will organize a regional consultation meeting for Africa to gather contribution from stake holders on the Zero draft of Voluntary Guidelines on Food Systems and Nutrition, it was indicated.

It pointed out that the Voluntary Guidelines are intended to serve as a reference document that provide guidance to governments and stakeholders on appropriate policies, investments and institutional arrangements needed to address the key causes of malnutrition in all of its forms.

The conference will draw participants representing national governments, UN agencies, civil society organizations, private sector associations, international agricultural research systems, regional and sub-regional organization, regional financial institutions and private philanthropic foundations across Africa.
