Ethiopian Diaspora in North America Support Reforms in their Country

Addis Ababa  May 30/2018  Ethiopians in the Diaspora in North America expressed their support for the efforts that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed is making to ascertain national unity of the country. The Premier had earlier called upon Ethiopians in the Diaspora to contribute their part in promoting the unity and development of their country. Ethiopian Diaspora in North America positively welcomed the Prime Minister's call to do their part in the unity and development of the nation. ENA's correspondent from Washington reported that the Ethiopian Diaspora had submitted a statement regarding their support for the efforts of the Prime Minister to Ambassador Kassa Teklebrehan in Washington D.C. Earlier, Ethiopians  in the Diaspora from all walks of life and professions had held a meeting in Washington D.C to discuss on range of issues including latest developments back in their home country. The participants in the meeting resolved to support for the fulfillment of the national reforms set by the Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. General Manager of Ethio-American Physicians Team, Melaku Ngussie said that the prevailing situation in Ethiopia demands immediate united action. Melaku added that a medical team composed of 300 members and 35 specialists is currently building a modern hospital as a sign of a practical cooperation in participating in the development programs of their country. He stressed that more efforts are to be made in expanding their participation. Dr. Shawel Betiru, expert in international agro-business and environmental economics said “I foresee a bright future for our role in contributing to the development of our country.” He added that this is a special opportunity set before all citizens to contribute their part in developing their country. Expressing their full commitment to the spirit of revival in their country, the participants delivered their statement to the ambassador. Ambassador Kassa expressed his gratitude for the contributions that the Ethiopian Diaspora are making towards the overall development of their country and said that the government is ready to back and support all their efforts towards their country’s development.
