Addis Ababa ENA July 10/2019 Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha said today that her country is keen to elevate bilateral ties with Ethiopia to higher level.

President Sahlework Zewdie and Foreign Minister Kang, who have been friends in their time working in the UN, held discussions about ways of strengthening the long-standing and historical ties of the two countries.

Ethiopia has been Korea’s priority partner when it comes to development assistance, the foreign minister said, adding that “now we want to take that to another level of business collaboration.”

That means doing some institutional framework to facilitate the relationship of the countries and strengthening the values they share at the international arena, the minister explained.

“It is a very special time for Korean and Ethiopian friendship,” Kang stated, adding that  Ethiopia and Korea share similar philosophy that guides the two countries.

Ethiopia had been a close friend in fighting alongside Koreans in the early 1950s, she further noted. “There is always that special place in our heart for Ethiopia.”

President Sahlework told the visiting minister that Ethiopia wants to further strengthen the historical bonds of the two countries.

The president pointed out that Ethiopia gives priority in enhancing economic cooperation where Korean investors are welcome.
