House Approves Appointment of Commissioner, Chairperson

Addis Ababa May 16/2019 The House of Peoples’ Representatives (HPR), in its 38 regular session today, approved the appointment of commissioner and chairperson for two commissions.

The House approved the appointment of Tassew Gebre and Ustaz Abubeker as Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of the Administrative Boundaries and Identity Issues Commission, respectively, with majority vote and 25 against.

It has also approved the appointment of Cardinal Berhaneyesus Souraphiel and Yetnebersh Nigussie as Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson of the Reconciliation Commission, respectively, in a majority vote with four against and 10 abstentions.

The proclamation for the establishment of Reconciliation Commission was approved by the House of Peoples’ Representatives (HPR) in December, 2018.
