British Foreign Secretary to Visit Ethiopia

Addis Ababa May 1/2019 British Foreign Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, to pay a working visit to Ethiopia on Thursday, the government of United Kingdom announced.

The Foreign Secretary’s visit to Ethiopia, Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria and Kenya aims at reinforcing new partnerships across Africa.

During his visit to Ethiopia, Jeremy Hunt is expected to announce 15.5 million British pound funds in support of improving the upcoming election in Ethiopia.

Moreover, the Foreign Secretary will meet Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and other senior government officials.  

His visit focuses on a new UK diplomatic push across the continent of Africa, including French-speaking countries, where the UK has traditionally played a smaller role.

After wrapping up his visit to Ethiopia, the Foreign Secretary is expected to head for Kenya.
