Coca-Cola Contributes Over 6 Ml'n Birr to Local Charities

Addis Ababa April 12/2019 Coca- Cola Company has made over 6 million birr donations to three local charity organizations to support youth and women with self-employment opportunities.

Briefing to journalists, Tigist Getu, Coca-Cola Ethiopia and Horn Brand Manager said “we are very happy to support communities through the charity campaign. We were able to raise a total of Birr 6, 086,376 from the campaign.”

The money is collected from coke sales of Coca-Cola’s pledge to donate 1 birr for every Coke in a plastic bottle purchased over a period of three months, with a motto: “Drink for Goodness”.

The contribution will assist to create awareness on harmful traditional practices and empowers the economic status of youth and women in Ethiopia. 

Organization for the Development of Women and Children in Ethiopia (ODWACE), Talent Youth Association (TAYA) and Organization for Women Self-employment (WISE) have received the donation during the “Coke Studio Africa” popular music show conclusion at Skylight Hotel here in Addis on Thursday.
