African Court, UN Human Rights Commission Sign MoU

Addis Ababa February 09/2019 African Court on Human and Peoples Rights (African Court) and UN High Commission for Human Rights have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today.

The signatories are High Commissioner for U.N Human Rights Commission Michelle Bachelet and African Court President Sylvain Ore.

During the signing ceremony, African Court President Sylvain Ore stated that the MoU is a natural alliance for the institutions and it helps them share common values for issues of human rights.

It is an important MoU that enhances human rights promotion and protection, he added.

U.N High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet said the MoUwill permit the institutions to promote and protect human right issues in the continent.

It fosters cooperation and relations between the institutions to a shared view and practice to solve human rights issues with training,workshop and seminars, she noted, adding that it is a great thing to advance human rights.
