Ethiopian New Flight to Zürich Strengthens Relations Between Africa, Europe: CEO

Addis Ababa, October 31,2022 (ENA) The commencement of new flight to Zürich by the Ethiopian Airlines will help to further strengthen the economic, social and political relations between African and European countries, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew said.

Ethiopian Airlines officially started new flight to Zürich, Switzerland today.

According to the CEO, Zürich will be the second destination after Jeneva in Switzerland.

Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew said, “We are glad to open a new route connecting the financial capital of Switzerland, Zürich with over 130 destinations of Ethiopian Airlines via Africa’s political capital, Addis Ababa.”

He also stated that the new flight will expand Ethiopian presence in Switzerland and Europe at large and provide enhanced air connectivity between Switzerland and Ethiopia.

“The new service will also facilitate diplomatic and socio-economic relations not only between Ethiopia and Switzerland, but also between Africa and Europe. As a pan-African carrier, we are committed to further expand our global network and connect Africa with the rest of the world better than ever before.”

With the launch of services to Zürich, Ethiopian Airlines flights to Switzerland will increase to seven per week.

Ethiopian has also expanded it services to Zimbabwe, Bulawayo increasing its destination to three in the country.

The new flight to Bulawayo, which is one of the industry centers of Zimbabwe, will help to enhance the economic, political and diplomacy cooperation of the two countries, Mesfin added.  

Ethiopian will conduct flights to both Zürich and Bulawayo three times every week.

Ethiopian has been exerting extra efforts to import additional Airplanes with a view to expand its destinations across the globe, the CEO announced.

Embassy of Switzerland Deputy Head of Mission in Ethiopia, Oliver Hoehne said that the new flight to Zürich will further boost the bilateral relations of Ethiopia and Switzerland noting that the city is the center of Business and finance in Switzerland.

The head also stated that Zürich is one of the best places convenient to trade and economic activities.
