Addis Ababa  October 06/2018 The 11th Organizational Congress of EPRDF has decided to incorporate the leadership of its partner organizations into the Executive Committee and Council of EPRDF as non-voting members. Accordingly, the Congress has decided to include Chairpersons of the organizations in the Executive Committee of EPRDF and five Executive Committee members of each organization into the EPRDF Council. In a presser he gave on Friday, Spokesperson of the 11th Congress, Fikadu Tessema said all members of the partner organizations will participate in the Council and Executive Committee without vote as the regulation of EPRDF does not give non-members voting right. The EPRDF Council has been assigned to conduct a study and come up with proposal on ways of making the partner organizations full members of the front, Fikadu added. The coalition of four parties, EPRDF, has maintained its status for the past 27 years, despite its desire to embrace organizations that represent other groups. The 10th Congress, which discussed the issue, had set direction for the council to conduct a study and present a proposal during the 11th congress. However, the task could not be completed due to the situation of the country over the past few years. At the opening of the Congress, Chairperson of EPRDF Abiy Ahmed said the Congress was expected to set a direction on ways of embracing the partner organizations. The Congress has also decided on the need to restructure all governmental institutions in order to ensure efficient service. Institutions in areas of security and justice will thus be restructured, following a study to be conducted on the sector, Fikadu revealed. The Congress that emphasized on the need to ensure rule of law has set direction that there will be no tolerance for anarchy. Besides, the Congress decided to maintain the front's ideology of developmental democracy and restructure electoral institutions in order to conduct free and fair election. The 11th session of the congress, which was in session in Hawassa, wrapped up yesterday.
