IGAD Congratulates Somalia for Successful Completion of Upper House Election

Addis Ababa November 14/2014 (ENA) Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Executive Secretary, Workneh Gebeyehu has congratulated the Somali government and people for the successful completion of the election of the Upper House of parliament.

According to a press release IGAD Executive Secretary sent to ENA, Workneh has congratulated the government and people of Somalia for the successful completion of the election of the Upper House of parliament.  

The statement stated that the executive secretary has applauded Somalia’s leadership, institutions and stakeholders for “this important milestone.”

The executive secretary has further encouraged all stakeholders to maintain “the same spirit and ensure the election of the lower house is also concluded without further delay.”

The conclusion of the Somali electoral process, he believes, will afford the Somali people the opportunity to focus on state building, peace building, economic development and stability.
