Addis Ababa, November 13/2021 (ENA) A 70-person American citizens group which is on a working visit in Ethiopia has urged the international community to understand that the country is peaceful.

The Americans who are here on the invitation of Mission Jesus Ethiopia Ministry said media reports about the current situation in Ethiopia are far from the reality on the ground.

Pastor Andrey Shapoval told South Television that the situation in Ethiopia is safe, and invited everybody, including American citizens, to come to the country as everything here is very peaceful.

He also said that the country is not as some Western media are trying to portray and the current situation is extremely the opposite.

The other member, Anie Siva from California said Addis Ababa and Arbaminch (a town in SNNP regional state) are peaceful, calm  and beautiful.

Siva added that she is happy with what she has seen in the country.

Samuel Aberra, who is also a member of the group, stressed the need for making the international community aware about the current situation in Ethiopia.

Members of the group had been confused with the fake news disseminated by some international media before they arrived in Ethiopia few days ago, he pointed out.

Aberra said, “Ten members of the group who arrived in Addis Ababa earlier were expecting huge military movements, weapons and soldiers across the city.

But what they encountered was the opposite. They witnessed that the situation is very peaceful as it was before.

After realizing that the media reports were wrong, they told the rest of the group about the existing reality and invited them to continue with their travel plan to Ethiopia.

So, all these Americans are here spending a lot of money and their precious time.”
