Western Media Attempting to Compensate TPLF with Fake News for What it Has Lost At Battles

Terrorist TPLF forces are guttering on a quicksand ready to ditch out to their final doomsday at all fronts and are now shifting to a malicious propaganda campaign in alliance with wester media companies. The current media campaign is well structured immensely supported by external elements in the west. The western media companies parrot their lies and false propaganda while western governments shape their policy options on Ethiopia from the perspectives of their commercial media outlets that have defied the most elementary aspects of media ethics simply to save a terrorist organization.

Over the week that has just ended, AP, BBC, AFP, Reuters, Washington Post, New York Times, Aljazeera, DW, VOA were jointly disseminating false news that terrorist TPLF forces are at the gates of Addis Ababa and that the city is in turmoil.  This deliberate propaganda is only the tip of the iceberg and only one aspect of a constellation of commercial propaganda warfare they are deliberately waging on the people and government of Ethiopia.

What are the other strategies that they are employing in this respect? First over the last several months they attempted to discredit the results of the 6th National Election which was the first democratic election ever to be conducted in the history of the country. They wrote a lot about the illegal election conducted by terrorist TPLF but failed to appreciate the national election in which more than one third of the population have casted their ballots.

Second, they deliberately engaged themselves in defamation and character assassination of the leaders of this country by branding the legally elected Prime Minister of Ethiopia as a dictator trying to show discord between the people of Ethiopia and the public. They try to draw a different picture of the Prime Minister and always mention that he is “the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. Third, they rarely verify their facts from the government sources but are quoting false information from terrorist TPLF with no verification.

Fourth, they use doctored video clippings and photos to justify their false arguments. For instance. For instance, a couple of days back Anadolu News Agency from Nairobi quoted TPLF as saying “The Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) said Thursday that it shot down an Ethiopian air force helicopter, days after the government bombed two rebel targets in Tigray.

“Our anti-aircraft units in the Mille front have downed an MI-35 helicopter gunship this morning,” TPLF spokesperson Getachew Reda said in a statement. The picture used by TPLF for this news is taken from a website that showed how ISIS forces have shot down a helicopter in Iraq 5 years back. Besides, no TPLF force has ever touched on the location mentioned in the news.  This was also confirmed by Ethiopian Airforce which denied both the use of helicopters in the area and that no helicopter belonging to the air forces was shot. The same false news was shared by various western media outlets but confirmed that it was totally fake news.

The current western media coverage on Ethiopia is also based on creating a situation which depicts that Addis Ababa has fallen to the TPLF while in fact terrorist TPLF forces are in total disarray and are losing at all the battle fronts. The western media companies mentioned above have so far uttered no word on this loses trying to deny the objective reality on the ground. Through their distortion of facts and sourcing their news only from terrorist TPLF sources, they are losing credibly even among their own audience.

Over the last one year, media companies in the western hemisphere continued to misinform the world that it was Ethiopia who “invaded” Tigray and started the conflict when the truth is that TPLF forces committed an unprecedented betrayal and killings on November 3,2020 which immediately forced the government to embark on enforcing the rule of law in Tigray.

Furthermore, to date, in spite of the report from JIT and the more recent report from Amnesty international, these  companies parroted on terrorist TPLF false news that genocide has been conducted in Ethiopia and that the country used hunger for political ends. Besides, the continuously reported on ethnic cleansing which in reality was conducted by terrorist TPLF itself.

Moreover, for over a week, western media outlets are busy waging a futile media war on Ethiopia trying to deceive the world that terrorist TPLF and Shene forces have either encircled Addis Ababa or are even approaching the outskirts of the city. Although the city is safe and sound, these media outlets are fabricating false news that has no basis.

On November 4, 2012, CNN came up with false report on Ethiopia as usual that troops allied against Ethiopia's central government are on the outskirts of Addis Ababa, a diplomatic source told CNN Wednesday, a day after authorities announced a nationwide state of emergency and called on citizens to take up arms to defend the capital. November 4, 2021”

The news goes on saying “a senior diplomatic source in Ethiopia told CNN on Wednesday that fighters from the Tigray Defense Force (TDF) and the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) were on the outskirts of the capital. The OLA is an outlawed armed group from Oromia, the country's most populous region.”

“The source added that the rebels had the firepower to be inside the city within hours, if they chose to be, but would prefer to wait for an agreement to be put in place.”

This piece of news shows the extent to which CNN is totally dedicated to the promotion of terrorist TPLF by disseminating lies that are not verified on the ground and do not synchronize with reality on the ground. As a leading media on the media war on Ethiopia, CNN has been busy with fake news on the issue of dead bodies found in a river on the border with Sudan prepared by Nima El Bagir.

Furthermore on the 12th of November 2021 on Friday, Reuters broadcasted another wave of false news that “Addis Ababa is totally encircled and the government is ready to resign.” In the absence of no indication on the issue of government resignation, Reuters is coming to the media aid for TPLF by broadcasting false and fake news that is incompatible with a news media of world standard. Besides, Reuters falsely reports that all Ethiopians are expected to carry identification cards that clearly show their identity. According to Redwan Hussien, the State Minister of Foreign Affairs, there is no regulation that requires citizens to carry ID cards that show their identity and that this regulation has been annulled a couple of years back after the down fall of the terrorist TPLF regime.

The international media in the western countries is in futile attempt to save terrorist TPLF that has committed the most unprecedented crimes in the Ethiopian soil. It is far better for the media in the west to stick to the truth instead of commercializing on the flesh and blood of innocent Ethiopians in Amhara, Afar and Oromia regions. It is immoral and unprofessional to fabricate false news simply because there is money involved. The people of Ethiopia will soon emerge victorious before all to see. The global conspiracy on this glorious country and center of origins shall be foiled very soon.
