Ethiopian Airspace Is "Very Safe and Highly Secured", Says Airlines Group

Addis Ababa August 03/2018 Ethiopian Airlines Group has reassured its customers and general travelling public that the Ethiopian Airspace remains "very safe and highly secured." In a press release it issued today under the title “Ethiopian Airspace is Safe”, the airline said Ethiopian Airspace remains very safe and highly secured even after the illegal strike of the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Air Traffic Controllers (ATCs). The illegal strike started on August 21, 2018, it was learned. According to the release, Ethiopian Airlines has been working in close coordination with the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority and volunteer air traffic controllers, ATC instructors, among others. It is successful supporting the Ethiopian Civil Authority to enable the latter to efficiently and safely manage the Ethiopian airspace in line with global standards, it noted. Therefore, Ethiopian Airlines scheduled and unscheduled flights and other airlines operating to Ethiopia have been operating smoothly with high standards flight punctuality and safety. Ethiopian noted that its customers did not as a result have any flight delay or cancellation caused by ATCs. "We take this opportunity to thank the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority management, the volunteer ATC experts and all other stakeholders for the successful coordination, which enabled our country to continue business as usual in our airspace management," the press released stated.
