African Nations Need 330 Billion USD to Revive Economies Battered by COVID-19

May 19 /2021 (ENA) African countries need 330 billion USD to revive their economies crashed by COVID-19 pandemic.

This was disclosed at the France-Africa Summit that brought together several heads of state of Africa, including President Sahle Work Zewde.

The aim of the summit hosted by President Emmanuel Macron of France is to motivate the economy of African countries that suffered from the impact COVID-19.

The key goal of the summit is therefor to urge the developed nations to provide the necessary financial support for African countries in their efforts to withstand the economic impact of COVID-19 on their economies.  

President Sahle Work on the occasion commended the call made by President Emmanuel Macron to support the economies of African nations affected by the pandemic.  

She also stressed the need to provide a swift response that fits the gravity of the crisis by the developed nations.  

Some European leaders, representatives of G7 and G20 countries, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and other financial institutions, are in attendance of the summit.
