Ethiopians in UAE Purchase 5Mn Birr GERD Bonds

Addis Ababa May 08/2018 Ethiopians residing in the United Arab Emirates have purchased 5 million birr worth bonds to support the construction of Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). According to a press release of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the 7th anniversary of the laying of the foundation of the dam was colorfully celebrated in Dubai. Speaking at the ceremony, Consul General Eyerusalem Amdemariam said the purchase of the bonds demonstrates the great commitment of Ethiopians living in Dubai and North Emirates for development of their country. GERD Public Participation Coordination Office Chairman, Usman Abdu Wahabirbi said on his part Ethiopians in Dubai and North Emirates will further strengthen their support for the dam until its completion. Details on the current progress of the dam were given at the event and certificates awarded to people who bought bonds.
