Minister of Peace Confers with WHO Regional Director for Africa

Addis Ababa April 15/2021 (ENA) Minister of Peace, Muferihat Kamil has today conferred with World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director for Africa Dr. Matshidiso Rebecca Moeti.

The two officials have discussed on the provision of public health services, the social and economic impact of COVID-19 and other related issues.  

During the occasion, the Minister has briefed the regional director about the ongoing efforts being undertaken to render basic health service, humanitarian assistance and the rehabilitation efforts in the northern part of the country.

She expressed her gratitude to the various United Nations Agencies including WHO and the entire international community for their continued support to Ethiopia.

WHO Regional Director for Africa, Matshidiso Moeti said that WHO has been following the development on the coverage of basic healthcare services in Ethiopia for the past years.

The provision of basic healthcare service in Ethiopia has been rapidly improving, she said and added that the achievements registered in the sector  could be exemplary for other countries.

She also thanked the Ethiopian government for providing COVID-19 vaccination for WHO staffs based in Ethiopia.
