Addis Ababa April 12/2021 (ENA) Some 72, 646 frontline health workers and other vulnerable group of the community have so far been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Addis Ababa, according to City Health Bureau.

Addis Ababa City Health Bureau Head, Yohans Chala said out of the 38,475 health workers and support staff planned to be vaccinated in the ten sub-cities of the city, 27,109 have been vaccinated.

So far, only 64 percent of the health workers have been vaccinated, it was indicated.

Lack of confidence emanated from a wrong perception over the safety of the vaccine has been one of the challenges being observed during the vaccination campaign, the head said.

He called on all sections of the society including health workers to take the vaccine as its safety and efficacy is confirmed by the pertinent international body.

Globally, more than 748 million people have been vaccinated so far, it was learned.

Ethiopia has imported 2.5 million vaccines in the first round and is expected to deliver 7.62 million vaccines in May.
