Demeke, Newly Elected AUC Deputy Chairperson Nsanzabaganwa Hold Talks

April 9/2021(ENA) Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen received the newly elected African Union Commission (AUC) Deputy Chairperson Monique Nsanzabaganwa at his office today.

Affirming Ethiopia's commitment to support the chairperson, Demeke briefed her about the recently held negotiation in Kinshasa, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  

Ethiopia firmly believes in the capability of Africans to solve their problems by themselves, he noted.

The deputy chairperson on her part appreciated Ethiopia's stance in this regard and reiterated that the African Union Commission is committed to its mantra: “African Solutions to African Problems.”

Demeke also briefed Nsanzabaganwa on the humanitarian situation in Tigray, where commendable achievements have been registered so far.  

The two sides further discussed the alarmingly increasing COVID-19 cases, and the minister  assured the deputy chairperson that Ethiopia would properly address quests to cooperate with AUC to vaccinate its staffers in Ethiopia.
