Canadian Companies Keen to Tap into Investment Opportunities in Ethiopia

March 28/2021(ENA)  Canadian companies showed interest to tap into the existing investment potential and take part in available Public-Private Partnership (PPPs) opportunities in Ethiopia.

Ethiopian Embassy in Canada held a consultative forum with Canadian companies on Public-Private Partnership that Ethiopia introduces to support the country's economic growth and improve the quality of public services.

The business forum was organized by the Ethiopian Embassy in Canada in collaboration with the Canada-Africa Chamber of Business and the Canadian Embassy in Ethiopia, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ press release.

The forum brought together more than 60 Canadian private investors at which the Ethiopian government officials from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health, Ethiopian Electric power, and Ethiopian Road Authority presented detailed information on PPP opportunities and pipeline projects in Ethiopia.

Detail accounts of public-private partnership opportunities in healthcare, energy, and power and transport were highlighted by respective officials, it was indicated.

On the event, it was emphasized that Ethiopia has recently introduced a Home-Grown Economic Reform Agenda in which the PPP model of project financing and implementation is given high priority that makes Ethiopia an attractive destination for Canadian companies.

The press release added Ethiopia is keen in its PPP model that would enable to the Canadian companies seek not only to invest in Ethiopia but also enter into the wider African market by using Ethiopia as an entry point.

The participants showed interest to tap into the existing investment potential and take part in available PPP opportunities in Ethiopia.
