PM Expresses Condolences Over Death Of Tanzanian President

March 18/2021 /ENA/ Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed expressed his condolences over the death of the President of Tanzania, John Pombe Magufuli.

 “My sincere condolences to the people and Government of Tanzania on the passing of President John Pombe Magufuli. May he Rest In Peace,” Abiy twitted today.

Tanzania's President John Magufuli has died aged 61 on Wednesday from heart complications at a hospital in Dar es Salaam, it was reported.

On Wednesday night, the vice-president of the country, Samia Suluhu Hassan went on state television to announce that Magufuli had died.

“Dear Tanzanians, it is sad to announce that today 17 March 2021 around 6pm we lost our brave leader, President John Magufuli, who died from heart illness,” she said.

According to officials of the country, there would be 14 days of national mourning and flags would fly at half-mast.

Under the constitution, Hassan is expected to assume the presidency.
