March 11/2021(ENA) The World Bank (WB) would strengthen its support for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Tigray region, World Bank Country Director Ousmane Dione said.

He said the WB is the biggest support provider in the region and will continue strengthening its support till the region gets out of this crisis.

We have seen the suffering of the people and finding solution is important, Dione stated, adding  that solving the problem of security, issues of access to potable water, and other services, are necessary.

Tigray Interim Administration CEO, Mulu Nega and his cabinet members have briefed representatives of the World Bank Group about the current situation in Tigray  today.

The CEO said the region has faced humanitarian, social and economic crises following the attack perpetrated by TPLF.

He noted that huge damage has been caused from households to company level which needs more attention.

This problem needs to be addressed in the region by all actors, Mulu stressed.

With regard to reconstructing government structure, he said some 72 percent of the work has been completed.

According to him, 70 percent of the humanitarian support provided for inhabitants of the region has been supplied by the federal government and the rest by the development partners.

Explaining about ensuring peace and stability, the CEO said "we need to conduct election as soon as possible and that requires assistance."

The interim administration is working with the opposition parties, some of them at the top level, which was not the case in previous administration.

Mulu pointed out that there are more than 700,000 internally displaced people in the region and this is an additional challenge for the interim administration and needs immediate resettlement.
