Power Transmission Project Built with 387 Mil Birr in Amhara Region Inaugurated

March 8/2021(ENA) The Beles-Jawi electric power transmission line project built with a cost of 387 million Birr in Amhara region inaugurated today.

Chief Administrator of Amhara Reginal State, Agegnehu Teshager and Water, Irrigation and Energy Minister, Seleshi Bekele inaugurated the project.

Communication Director at the Ethiopian Electric Power, Moges Mekonen told ENA during the occasion that the entire cost of the project was covered by the government of Ethiopia.

The newly inaugurated power transmission plant that stretches 61 kilo meters will receive 132 kilo volts of electric power out of which it distributes 33 kilo volts to customers, the director said.

Out of the nine power transmission lines of the project, three of them would be solely dedicated to Beles sugar factory, he indicated.    

The remaining transmission lines would supply electric power for Jawi town and future mega investment activities around the project.
