Ethiopians Need to Reflect Unison by Upholding the Legacy of the Victory of Adwa: Shimelis Abdissa

March 1/2021( ENA) Ethiopians need to reflect national unison by upholding the triumphant legacy of forefathers’ victory at the Battle of Adwa, Oromia Regional State Chief Administrator, Shimelis Abdissa said.

This was disclosed during the 125th Anniversary of the Victory of Adwa celebrated in the capital, Addis Ababa at Oromia Regional State level today.

During the occasion, Shimelis said the Victory of Adwa is a shared victory of all Ethiopians that ran against the Italian aggressors on March 1896.

“Being Ethiopia is not a gift,” Shimelis said, adding that it is a self-sacrificing identity that has been paid with bones and blood. 

He called on Ethiopians to repeat the Victory of Adwa by building economically prosperous nation where all citizens live equally in harmony.

“There is no other option than building an all-inclusive Ethiopia” Shimelis said, adding that highlighting the common history that will contribute to nation building is critical.

Minister of Culture and Tourism, Hirut Kassaw on her part said it is necessary to recognize the secret that lead to the every-shining Victory of Adwa in order to repeat same success in national development.

“We need to strengthen the culture of cooperation and support and work for the future as there are a number of development projects that require collaboration, including GERD,” she added. 

She urges the youths to stand together in unity and should pursue their forefathers champion inheritance in a bid to build a prosperous Ethiopia.
