Catering, Tourism Institute Working to Meet Local Demand

Addis Ababa July 21/2018 Catering and Tourism Training Institute of Ethiopia said it is working to meet the demand of the hospitality sector by producing skilled labor. To make this happen, the institute is working with a number of vocational and technical colleges across the country. Director General of the Institute Ashebir Tekle told ENA that the institute is working to expand its training to regional states in collaboration with regional technical and vocational training centers. “We identified 11 cluster centers which give training at regional level. These cluster centers are regional technical and vocational training institutes that the institute gives special support in the form of preparation of model educational curriculum, platforms as well as short and long term training for their teachers”  Ashebir stated. Noting skilled labor is the base for competition and productivity in the sector, Ashebir said a road map has prepared to improve the number of qualified personnel in hotel and tourism sector. The road map includes how the institute in partnership with private and public colleges could improve quality and quantity of skilled labor.
