South Korea Hails Historic Ethio-Eritrea Peace Deal

Addis Ababa July 13//2018 The South Korean government has hailed the historic peace deal between Ethiopia and Eritrea, which expected to serve as a turning point to promote peace in Africa. In a statement issued today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the joint declaration to end 20 years of hostility signed by the leaders of the two countries Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and President Isaias Afewerki earlier this week. The two sides agreed to normalize diplomatic ties between the neighboring countries. South Korea expects the historic accord to serve as a chance "not only for the reciprocal development of the two sides' relations but also for sustainable peace and prosperity across the African continent," the Ministry stated. It was learned that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and President Isaias Afewerki signed a declaration of peace on Monday, formally ending the state of war between the two countries and setting the stage for a new era of harmonious relations.
