Gov’t Lauds Public for Initiating Rally, Prepared for Its Peaceful Conduct: GoCAO

Addis Ababa June 22, 2018 The government of Ethiopia has commended the people for their commitment towards sustaining peace and organizing the first public initiated rally to support it. A huge rally will be held tomorrow to express gratitude to the efforts exerted by the new leadership and affirm support at Maskel Square here in Addis Ababa. Briefing the press today, Government Communication Affairs Office Minister Ahmed Shide said the people are hugely engaged in the efforts of the government over the last three months through strengthening unity, love and forgiveness. He added that the country has been registering fruitful results in peace in this few months due to the strong participation of the public. “The government will take this opportunity to strengthen the reform in various areas,” Ahmed stressed. The government is ready to ensure that the day lasts as a day of love and unity for all Ethiopians, he concluded. Federal Police Commissioner General Zenynu Jemal said the police have finalized the necessary preparations to help the public conduct the rally peacefully and without the interference by any group. The Commissioner General urged the elderly and children from taking part in the rally.
