Ethiopia, Norway Call for Joint Approach to Fight COVID-19

Addis Ababa, April 3/2020( ENA) Ethiopia and Norway called for joint approach to fight against the spread of COVID-19.

Foreign Minister Gedu Andargachew today held phone conversation with his Norwegian counterpart, Ine Eriksen Soreide, on ways to curb the coronavirus pandemic.

The two ministers exchanged views on the measures being taken to contain the spread of COVIOD-19 epidemic, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the occasion, Gedu briefed his Norwegian counterpart about the measures that Ethiopia has been taking to halt the virus from being spread.

He also cited the recent virtual Summit of IGAD member states convened to deliberate on regional IGAD strategy to combat the spread of the virus.

Gedu underscored the need for taking joint approach to curtail the effects of the virus.

Foreign Minister, Ine Eriksen Soreide, on her part stressed the significance of cooperation at this critical juncture.

She commended Foreign Minister Gedu for the condolences he offered on the unfortunate loss of lives in Norway due to the virus.

Ine Erksen further appreciated IGAD’s initiative and explained how the Nordic countries too are joining forces to fight the pandemic.
