Institute Reports Three Additional Confirmed Cases of COVID-19

ENA,March 31/2020 The Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) disclosed that out of the 66 tests it conducted within twenty-four hours three were confirmed positive for COVID-19, pushing the total number of coronavirus case in the country to 25. 

The confirmed cases are 30 and 36  years old Ethiopians that arrived from Dubai on March 24 in the same flight, it added.

Both of the patients were in a mandatory quarantine at the designated place. Upon developing symptoms, they were isolated and tested positive for COVID-19.

The third patient is a 60-year-old Ethiopian woman who resides in Addis Ababa. She arrived from France on March 15 and was in a follow up and upon the development of symptoms, reported to the hot line service.

All the patients are under treatment in the designated treatment center, according to the institute.

Currently, there are 21 cases in the treatment center and two of the patients are in critical condition.

The Ethiopian Public Health Institute has so far conducted 1,013 laboratory tests, 66 of them  within the last twenty-four hours.
