Ethiopia Confirms Three more COVID-19 Cases

ENA,March 29/2020 Ethiopia has recorded three more cases of COVID-19 today, totaling the number to 19 since the first case was confirmed, Ministry of Health announced. 

All the three confirmed cases are Ethiopian nationals.

Some 87 people were tested in the last 24 hours and three of them have tested positive for coronavirus, the ministry stated.

The first case is a 26-year-old woman with a travel history to Brussels, Belgium and Cameroon on March 17th and 19th, correspondingly.

The patient is under medical treatment in the designated treatment center.

The other two cases are a 14-year-old-boy and a 48-year-old woman in the same family in the city of Adama, Oromia Regional State, the ministry revealed.

As coronavirus has been becoming a global phenomenon, Ethiopia is working aggressively and taking preventative measures to contain the spread of the virus.

The country is expanding COVID-19 laboratories, banning on large gatherings, suspending school and sport events as well as flights.

COVID-19 pandemic killed more than 30, 000 people with more than 500, 000 people confirmed cases globally.

The U.S. overtook China as the country with the most COVID-19 cases worldwide and Italy reported another spike in cases, taking the total to more than 80,500.
