AU Chairperson Condemns Attack on Sudanese PM

ENA,march 10/2020 The Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat condemned in the strongest terms the attack on the convoy of Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok that occurred in Khartoum yesterday.

The Chairperson urged all stakeholders to maintain the unity of the transitional government and to preserve the important gains of the Transition.

The Chairperson further stressed the urgent need for all stakeholders, including international partners to provide immediate and concrete support to Sudan at this critical juncture of the transition, in order to rapidly consolidate the gains made since the Transition began.

Sudan’s Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok survived yesterday an assassination attempt after bomb exploded and his convoy was attacked in the capital Khartoum.

The bombing took place at the entrance to the Kober Bridge in Khartoum North, at the usual time he goes to his office, it was learned.

Prime Minister Hamdok issued a short statement to reassure the Sudanese people saying that he is well.

“What happened will not stop the march of change and will only be an additional splash in the high wave of the revolution,” he noted.
