Some 27-Mn Birr Security Forces Capacity Building Project to be Launched

ENA,March 6/2020 Ministry of Peace and the nongovernmental organization Justice for All-Prison Fellowship signed Memorandum of Understanding for the execution of 27 million Birr project that builds the capacity of security forces in order to ensure peace and stability during the upcoming general election .

The project will help build the capacity of security forces in order to ensure peace and stability during the upcoming general election, it was learned.

Speaking during the signing of the memorandum, Peace State Minister Frealem Shibabaw said the project will strengthen the capacity of militias, the police and other security personnel in securing and maintaining  peace before, during and after the election.

She appreciated Justice For All-Prison Fellowship for the support it extended to help the  conduct free, fair and democratic election in the country.

According to her, enhancing the capacity of militias and the police for the national election through training will also help to sustain peace and stability.

Justice for All-Prison Fellowship Ethiopia President, Pastor Daniel Gebreslassie said on his part that the training mainly focuses on militias as they are in direct contact with the community in terms of security.

The project is planned to train about 60,000 security personnel, mainly militias, and will run for one year, he added.

Justice for All-Prison Fellowship Ethiopia has been working to promote the respect and protection of human rights upholding principles of good governance and rule of law for the last 28 years in Ethiopia.
