Adwa Victory Exemplary to Tackle Challenges in Unison

ENN,March 2/2020 The victory of Adwa Victory can be extolled as one the best examples in tackling the widespread challenges of national unity, participant of the 124th celebration said.

The 124^th Adwa Victory celebrated today in the presence of President Sahlework Zewdie and Tigray Regional State Deputy Chief Administrator, Debretsion Gebremichael.

In an exclusive interview with ENA, Dr. Yohanes Gebresilase said “Adwa victory is not only for the Ethiopians rather for the whole world especially the black people.”

Stating that it is a great victory which was maintained by heroic Ethiopian forefathers, he added that “we can learn a lot of things from it.”

“From the victory we can learn lessons that could be good examples to the challenges that we are encountering now in terms of unity and developmental endeavors,” Yohanes noted.

He pointed out that the young generation has to learn unity and togetherness in tackling impediments of any sort from the victory that was maintained by its forefathers.

Moreover, he stated “we have to reverence diversity and then we can maintain the desired unity and win over the existing challenges of the country.”

According to him, the entire history should be included in the educational curriculum while other African countries consider it to be of paramount value for the independence of black Africans and others from colonizers.

Yohanes stated that transcending the glory attained by the selfless sacrifices should be of priority every now and then.

“We have to learn lessons from the victory of Adwa and maintain unity and diversity,” he underscored.  

African Union Economic Affairs Commissioner, Professor Victor Harrison said on his part during the celebration “the Adwa Victory is not only a national victory but also an African victory.”

Africa is currently facing development challenges, he said, and added “Ethiopia is an example of resistance against colonizers and development as well.”

He indicated that the victory of Adwa can be a good example to unite the continent in the fight against overcoming poverty, ensuring inclusive development and improving living conditions.
