ENA February 26/2020 Foreign Minister Gedu Andargachew left for Italy on Tuesday evening to pay an official visit.
Gedu is expected to meet and discuss with his Italian counterpart Luigi Di Maio on ways of heightening bilateral ties, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Minister will also meet the heads of the International Fund for Agricultural Development, World Food Programme, and the Food and Agriculture Organization to consult on running projects in line with the objectives of Ethiopia’s ongoing economic reform, it was indicated.
Italian vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Emanuela Del Re has similarly visited Ethiopia in June last year and discussed with high-level government officials including Foreign Minister Gedu Andargachew.
Emanuela Del Re also discussed with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed last year on scaling up multifaceted and comprehensive support to Ethiopia, and to continue work on how the relationship between the two countries could grow into a higher level.
It is to be recalled that Italy has vowed to support Ethiopia in areas of heritage conservation.
