National Peace Volunteer Service to Begin Next Month in 63 Cities

Addis Ababa, May 24, 2026 —The annual Winter National Peace Volunteer Service will begin in 63 cities next month, according to the Ministry of Peace.

The ministry notes that the service is a tool for peacebuilding and national unity, in addition to social development activities.

Lead Executive Officer at the ministry, Gezahegn Tilahun, told ENA that the ministry has been carrying out a wide range of activities through the volunteer service program.

Through the programs carried out over the past years, development activities worth 15 to 20 billion Birr have been carried out, he said

Efforts have also been made to enhance unity among the people in the 14 rounds, it was learned.

In this 15th round, 6,300 trainers from the 63 cities have provided training to program participants, according to the Lead Executive Officer.

The 15th round volunteer service initiative will be launched on June 12  and June  17 nationally and regionally, respectively.
