Mayor Reports 95 Precent Success in Addis Ababa’s Annual Development Plan

Addis Ababa, July, 19, 2025 (ENA)— Addis Ababa City Administration successfully implemented 95 percent of its planned development projects during the recently concluded 2017 Ethiopian fiscal year, Mayor Adanech Abiebie announced.
According to the mayor, these initiatives were specifically aligned with the community’s development needs.
Speaking at a discussion held to review the 2017 fiscal year's performance and outline plans for the upcoming 2018 fiscal year, Mayor Adanech highlighted the significant impact of these works, which benefited a large segment of the population.
The forum saw the attendance of key city officials, including Speaker of the Addis Ababa City Council Buzena Alkedir, Moges Balcha, Head of Prosperity Party Addis Ababa Branch Office and other senior members of the city administration.
Beyond infrastructure, Mayor Adanech underscored the administration's efforts to stabilize market conditions and reduce the cost of living by ensuring a steady supply of essential goods.
"In terms of job creation, we have exceeded our targets," the mayor stated, also pointing to notable achievements in revenue collection.
According to Mayor Adanech, the Ethiopian Industrial Movement has brought tangible improvements to local industries, leading to increased production and productivity.
She also emphasized the success of the corridor development initiative, noting that the program has significantly enhanced the city's cleanliness, beauty, and overall livability, making Addis Ababa more attractive for both residents and tourists.
While commending the successes of the 2017 fiscal year, the mayor stressed that more work lies ahead. "Our accomplishments are commendable, but they are not sufficient. We must build on our progress and ensure the lessons learned guide our plans for the 2018 fiscal year," she concluded, urging continued dedication to the city's growth.
