PM Abiy Extends Best Wishes for Timket Festival

Addis Ababa, January 19/2024 (ENA ) Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has today extended best wishes to Ethiopian Christians upon the celebration of the Timket festival, (Ethiopian Epiphany) which commemorates baptism of Jesus Christ in River Jordan.
In his message, the premier emphasized the importance of learning valuable lessons from the Timket.
By drawing a parallel between the Baptism of Jesus and Ethiopia's current path, the Prime Minister highlighted the need for patience and unwavering commitment to save the country.
"From the outset, just like in the baptism, the journey to save our country, may seem small; however, within it lies immense potential for healing and elevating the country, " the premier stated.
Accordingly, he emphasized for the importance of patience and perseverance, stating "the idea of saving the country is not determined by the reaction we are showing today."
Abiy has drawn the parallels during Jesus’ baptism. "There were only a few who truly understood the significance of that moment in the Jordan River, in the same way today, there many may not grasp the transformation which is taking place in our nation," he noted.
And he urged citizens not to lose hope amidst misunderstandings and temporary obstacles.
“The path towards our goal, like the journey of salvation, is long and demands unwavering dedication,” Abiy affirmed.
He promised continued efforts towards redeeming Ethiopia’s promise, saying “We will continue mending fractures, saving the country, and opening new avenues."
Abiy noted the Epiphany is now celebrated by millions across over 20,000 sites in Ethiopia, inscribes as UNESCO World Heritage.
