Trust Fund Calls for First Round Project Proposals that Receive 4 million USD

Addis Ababa 25/2019 The Ethiopian Trust Fund (EDTF), which has raised over 4.6 million USD from the diaspora in less than 10 months, called for submission of project proposals that sustainably solve the acute socio-economic problems of the country.

Out of the stated sum, EDTF will allocate 4 million USD for this phase of the project, it was learned.

Ethiopian Trust Fund Board Chairperson, Eyesuswork Zafu told journalists today that the entire 4 million USD is targeted for financing socio-economic projects which will be identified by well experienced experts in project designing, implementation and evaluation.

Health, education, water supply, job creation, improving the livelihood of disabilities, and rehabilitating internally displaced peoples were among the priorities cited by the chairperson.

EDTF will finalize the selection and submit the projects to the board of directors for approval within two months, he stated.

The approved projects are expected to be official in November 2019 with detailed information.

All parties interested in submitting project proposals are encouraged to do so by following the guidelines provided, Eyesuswork said.

Nearly 25 thousand donors responded to the 1USD a day call to raise the over 4.6 million USD.

EDTF will use 100 percent of collected donations for projects and no donation is used for administrative or other purposes, it was stressed.

According to EDTF chairperson, the fund, among others, is committed to ensure all are treated without regard to ethnicity, religion, language, region, gender or any other insidious classification.

Ethiopian Diaspora Trust Fund (EDTF), which was launched in August 2018 with the appointment of the EDTF Advisory Council, is a signature initiative of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
