Temesgen Tiruneh Elected as Chief Administrator of Amhara Region

Addis Ababa ENA July 22/2019 The Amhara State Council, on its 15th Regular Session on Monday has elected Temesgen Tiruneh as Chief Administrator of the region.

Temesgen has earlier served as head of Information Division at the Ministry of Defense and at INSA at federal and regional levels in various capacities.

The new Chief Administrator is replacing the late Dr. Ambachew Mekonnen, who served as chief administrator of the region but was shot dead along with other regional officials during the failed ‘coup plot’ in Bahir Dar on June 22, 2019.

After he was sworn in, Temesegen said that prior focus will be given to job creation, housing projects and investment promotion of the region.

The Chief Administrator underscored his commitment towards the resolving boundary and identity issues of the region through due process of law and to ensure the prevalence of the rule of law.
