Ethiopian Business, Investment Symposium Held in China

Addis Ababa 13/05/2019 Ethiopian business and investment symposium held in Hangzhou City of China, Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported today.

According to the Ministry, Ethiopian investment opportunities were promoted to Chinese enterprises at the symposium in Hangzhou City, the capital of Zhejiang Province.

Hangzhou City is known as part of the ‘Silicon Valley’ of China for it is the epicenter of China’s innovation and technology hub.

The Chinese giant multinational conglomerate specializing in e-commerce, retail, internet and technology, Ali Baba Group, makes its headquarter in Hangzhou City.

Yiwu International trade city, which is the world's largest wholesale market of commodities, also found in Zhejiang Province, where most Ethiopian mercantilist favor for imported goods.  

The promotion aimed at unleashing mutual and complementary benefit for both Ethiopia and China by enhancing the respective countries’ textile and garments capacities that exist in Ethiopia and Zhejiang Province.

It is to be recalled that Ethio-Chinese symposium to boost trade and investment ties between the two countries was held in Addis Ababa on October 30, 2018.

China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and for Electronic Products (CCCME) and Ethiopian Investment Commission were signed a Memorandum of Understanding in a bid to strengthen the trade and investment ties between the two countries, it was learned.
