Rwanda to Work with Ethiopia 'Like Never Before': President Kagame

Hawassa May 26/2018 Rwandan President Paul Kagame, who is in Ethiopia for a three-day official visit, said that his country will work hand in hand with Ethiopia to transform both countries in many spheres like never before. Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on his part said his country will closely work with Rwanda to realize change and development in Africa. The leaders made the remark in a press conference they gave in Hawassa after visiting the Hawassa Industrial Park, Ethiopia's flagship eco-park. In the park, which centered on textile and garment products, the two leaders visited companies engaged in the production of textiles and garment as well as diapers. The President said that the two countries need to work closely to enhance the existing ties. "We can only move forward hand in hand together in many spheres, and work together like never before," President Kagame expressed. The President further extended his warm appreciation to the regional government and Ethiopia at large for the hospitality and brotherly welcome. Premier Abiy said that Kagame is not only the President of Rwanda but also a leader for the entire continent in many ways especially in peace and stability as well as economic integration. The Premier recalled that Rwanda is pioneer in ratifying the African Free Continental Trade Area Agreement (AfCTA). "The issue of economic integration was a dream for our forefathers now my dear brother is realizing that vision. Rwanda is taking a measure to integrate Africa" he said. He said Rwanda's stride towards the steadfast implementation of the continental free trade area is an exemplary whereby every African nation should follow. Abiy asserted that the two countries will continue to work together to realize change and development in the continent. "We will continue to work together to change the continent. I am sure in the next few years we will release some of our visions to change our continent so welcome to your home," he said.
