Conference on Network for Improving MNCH to Begin Tomorrow

Addis Ababa March 11/2019 Ethiopia will host a conference on improving maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH) starting tomorrow.

At a joint statement held today, Health Service Quality Director at Ministry of Health, Dr. Hilina Tadesse said the conference will discuss the achievements of the network since its launching in 2017.

The director stated that the conference will help Ethiopia to translate packages of interventions to drive quality health improvement in facilities of the health sectors.

World Health Organization Country Office Women, Children and Youth Health Program Coordinator, Dr. Azmach Hadush said the 10 member countries of Quality of Care Network (QCN) will present their achievements and challenges at the conference.

The network is committed to halve material and newborn death and stillbirths in health facilities and improve patients’ experience of care by 2022, he added.

QCN supports countries in implementing national strategies for quality of care in health sector with support from World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, UNFPA and other partners.

Over 250 representatives from 25 countries, and representatives of UNICEF, WHO, UNFPA, development partners, non-governmental organizations and academicians are expected to attend the conference. The 10 network countries are Bangladesh, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Malawi, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Uganda
