Rehabilitation of Historic, Ancient Ambo Palace to Begin Soon

Addis Ababa March 01/02019 The rehabilitation of the historic and ancient Ambo Palace will start soon and be readied for local and foreign visitors, according to the National Palace Administration (NPA).

NPA Director, Worknesh Biru told journalists today that the historic Ambo palace is one the ancient palaces which was built with similar materials with the National Palace.

This is a great asset for Ambo in particular and Ethiopia in general, the director said, adding that she is confident that residents of the city will fully collaborate with the regional state and the national place administration for the realization of the rehabilitation.

Worknesh praised Prime Minister Abiy for his firm commitment and direction to start the rehabilitation of Ambo Palace soon.

The activity of selecting consultants and contractors is underway at the moment, she stated.

She further said the restoration of Jimma Palace, which started this budget year, is progressing well and will be finalized as per the schedule.

Preparations are also underway to rehabilitate the National Palace which is to be opened for the general public and other visitors as tourist destination in collaboration with the Government of France.
